MENZEL was once part of Carlswerk, a glass company in Lommatzsch, and later headquartered in Braunschweig .The first microscope slides and cover slips were manufactured in Braunschweig in 1951. Many years experience with glass production, coupled with entrepreneurial resolve, soon made MENZEL the leading manufacturer of microscope slides and other glass specialties.
In July 1985, ERIE SCIENTIFIC COMPANY in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, USA, a company with over 50 years experience manufacturing laboratory glass, incorporated MENZEL into its enterprise. Beside MENZEL there are two other sister companies: Erie Scientific in Hungary and a glass plant in Romont, Switzerland - ERIE ELECTROVERRE. With the most modern technical installations at its disposal, ERIE ELECTROVERRE manufactures high-grade, flat glass with a very low iron content. MENZEL and ERIE SCIENTIFIC COMPANY are being supplied with this raw material for glass production. |
